Neal Girard didn’t get into building just to build — he started with a vision for better, more intentional homes.
In 2004, he began his journey apprenticing under a master carpenter, where he helped construct off-grid, solar-powered straw bale homes. From the beginning, his work focused on sustainability, craftsmanship, and designing homes that live well — not just look good.
Before founding Hygge Haus Design Build in 2020, Neal spent five years with a nationally recognized energy efficiency consulting firm. There, he completed energy modeling on over 1,000 new homes across Colorado, gaining deep knowledge of what it takes to meet the highest building standards — from ENERGY STAR and IECC to Net Zero and Passive House certifications.
With over 21 years of hands-on experience, Neal now brings together high-performance design and modern Scandinavian aesthetics to create spaces that feel effortless, functional, and alive with warmth.
